Bean to Bar Workshop
Think of your favorite chocolate. Is is bitter? Smooth? Textured? Mouthwatering and complex?
At our bean-to-bar chocolate making workshops, participants sample a variety of beans from around the world, (from Fiji to Ecuador to Tanzania), and learn the ancient art and science of making chocolate from bean to bar. Winnow, conch, roast, grind and taste the results. Go home with your very own artisan chocolate and a new appreciation for all things cacao.
Each month the bean-to-bar workshop travels through time and around the world for a different focus. In honor of Valentine's Day, February's workshops will be all about chocolate and Valentine's Day.
Truffle Making Workshop
Ready to try something new? Come with a friend or partner, by yourself or gather a group of your favorite people to experience Laughing Gull Chocolates' one-of-a-kind Chocolate Making Workshop. Roll up your sleeves and learn the secret to making great tasting, ethical chocolate. During this hands on session, participants will practice the art of truffle-making, from making ganache to rolling and dipping truffles, while engaging in a conversation about the history of chocolate. Come enjoy good company complimented by delicious fresh local snacks. You will leave with an assortment of truffles to take home, a new perspective on chocolate, and endless bragging rights as a chocolate connoisseur!
The Basics of Chocolate
The fact that chocolate tastes delicious is no secret. The snap of a chocolate bar when we break off a piece, the bright sheen on a chocolate covered mango, or the aroma of a chocolate covered strawberry. All of this is a result of tempering chocolate. In the Basics of Chocolate workshop, we'll talk about the processes that create chocolate that we eat and love. Our beloved chocolate is the result of centuries of discovery, exploration and experiments, sipping, experiencing and innovation. Ultimately, it is the result of science. We will explore the myriad of ways that chemistry and biology infiltrate chocolate. Participants will learn how to temper chocolate and will go home with their own creation of chocolate bark!
Paint and Sip Parties
Laughing Gull has partnered with Chuck, the Large Artist, to offer these awesome parties! Chuck makes painting easy and fun! With a large assortment of paintings to choose from you can customize your party to the season or occasion! Laughing Gull offers a sampling of treats (and chocolate) to snack on during the event and a drink of choice for each attendee. We can expand our assortment of food to include our specialty cheeses or ice cream to truly customize this event to your liking!

Custom Truffle Making Workshop
We offer a variety of different chocolate workshops!
Our basic class includes an introduction to the history of chocolate, making 1 flavor of ganache (the inside of a truffle) and rolling the ganache in an assortment of toppings and going home with several truffles each!
You can expand your class by:
• making multiple flavors of ganache
• learning to temper chocolate and dipping your ganache centers
into the chocolate to create a true artisan truffle
• crafting your own chocolate from raw cacao beans
• learning a more extensive history of chocolate, its origins,
story, and the complex dynamics of the cacao industry
